Linda Fröhlich was born in a South German city called Pforzheim on June 23rd, 1979.

When she was five years old her parents moved up north to Oldendorf, Germany so her dad could be closer to his work in Hamburg.

As the oldest of five, Linda grew up in a small “village” which till this day hasn’t reached 3000 inhabitants…really comfy and very hearty. It was a great place for children to grow up: very innocent and protected. As a teenager though it was easy to "feel trapped", because without a car and driver’s license (which in Germany you can only get at the age of 18) you are literally cut off from everything.

Luckily, Linda was able to travel all over Europe through basketball. She was able to learn about different cultures, and experience different standards of living, which helped her to appreciate all the great things that she did have in Germany, instead of complaining about the ones she didn’t have.

After initial problems (she let other people tell her, what she could and couldn’t do...didn't have any self-confidence), Linda started to get serious about playing basketball at the age of 13. She attended her first basketball camp in 1992 and has fallen in love with the game ever since.

In Germany Linda played on two club teams: TSV Lamstedt from 1992-1995 and then SC Rist Wedel 1996-1998, but then I also participated in many events from the German national team. Wonderful years, combined with a lot of work for her parents who had to transport her to all types of tournaments and practices.

After all, all of the hard work paid off and Linda earned a scholarship in the States.

In April of 1998 she decided to leave my family and moved 8000 miles away to attend a university. Linda signed her letter of intend with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

In June 1998 –after 13 years of intense studies- she graduated from the Vincent-Lübeck Gymnasium in Stade with a major in English and Biology.

Despite her lifelong dream to become a doctor, her focus shifted in college and Linda pursued a degree in Psychology, which she feels "suits her a lot better" as she is still able to “help” people, but without having to cut them open.

After four hard yet beautiful years in Las Vegas Linda graduated in May 2002, but never attended her actual graduation, because the next station of her life was already waiting in line: the life as a professional athlete.

After Linda got drafted on April 5th as the Liberty’s first draft pick, she had to report to training camp in the last week of April. She had to take her finals early, pack all her belongings, leave her friends and move to New York City.

While Linda had to leave many great people and a wonderful career behind in Las Vegas, she was able to take "something" very precious with her, her now-husband Andrew, who she had met her sophomore year in college.

On May 12, 2005 they exchanged the wedding vows…by a simple walk to County Hall…Linda says "one day when we’ll be rich, I am going to throw that huge wedding party that I’ve always dreamt of, but until then I’ll just enjoy being a wife".

Since the summer of 2002 she’s been playing basketball professionally around the world, from commitments to the German national team to contracts with foreign teams and the WNBA.
